How do you add "Cash" holdings to the New portfolio? (Used to be $$cash)?
-
Since the new portfolio was launched, my cash holdings disappeared, with the notation..$$ is not a valid symbol) It used to be!?????

Answer:
Simple answer appears to be that you can't. My total is still correct, even though the portfolio is not displaying $$cash lines. Perhaps someone should ask the question of where we can go now to get a good portfolio. I'd like to see that answer. I'd move in a heartbeat. There was a time when $$cash was the single most important feature separating the Yahoo portfolio from Google. Now Google has added the feature and Yahoo has messed it up. Why? I suspect Yahoo has let the good people go -- perhaps to Google? I also hate that I cannot arrange the order of the entries. You should be able to have multiple cash lines and control the order. Admittedly the interface was a bit clunky, but it was at least able to do what is really needed. Also have you notice that the ETFs keep disappearing. Hard to use a portfolio when there are this many problems. What I find completely inexcusable is these guys just dumped this on us and aren't pulling it back after significant complaints. There WAS a time Yahoo would let you try a new option and collect opinions before just plopping it out there. Hopefully someone at corporate will take notice and lop a few heads.

I used to show my bond holdings as well under $$Bonds which disappeared along with $$ Cash. I am sure their intentions were to make improvements but they created a mess along the way by not anticipating some of these rather simple concerns. It is inexcusable that they do not have solutions at this time. There have been some problems recently in the portfolio with certain securities not updating price properly. You do not expect these from Yahoo. Maybe it is time to move on to another portal.

Could someone from Yahoo please answer this question

This new portfolio is a big step backward for Yahoo. You can't cut or paste a stock list anymore. You can't arrange the sequence of the stock symbols. The cash doesn't work and you can't enter negative values for option spreads. It was previously the best portfolio available and now I've spent the last two days trying to find another company to move my positions to without having to buy software. I don't know what these guys wrere thinking but clearly they don't manage a portfolio for themselves.

I can't answer the question because we haven't been given the answer by Yahoo. If someone has the answer, please let us know.
