How do I get out of my parents house?

I REALLY need to move out of my parents house but im not making enough money. how am i supposed to get out?

  • Im 19 and its clear that both me and my parents want me out of the house. The problem is that the money i make varies week to week from 75 to MAYBE 100 dollars. I absolutely hate the job im at. Im so unhappy and im stuck in an awful rut. My parents wont help out, and they make me buy my own groceries, clothes and pretty much anything else i need. How am i supposed to get out of here?? like i said i hate my job, but it looks good on a resume, and finding a higher paying job around here is near impossable because i live in a college town and there all taken. anyone im willing to share a place with already has one at their school. I only go to community college and it doesn’t offer dorms..i NEED TO GET OUT!! but how?? (Sorry its so long... i kinda went on a rant)

There is no way you can afford to live on your own or even with a roommate on $400 a month. Trust me, I've tried it. I am in college and have a student worker's job that doesn't give me enough hours and I make close to what you make. I share rent with two roommates and my monthly bills still come out to more than $400 a month. I have to do odd jobs and take out student loans to help pay. I will not believe that you can't find a better paying job. It sounds like you just aren't putting in enough hours. If you can't put in extra hours, and I know this is probably the problem because it's hard balance work and school, then you need to either find a much higher paying job or take out student loans. If you file your FAFSA you may qualify for government subsidized and unsubsidized loans, or you could take out a private student loan. If you keep your debt under $8k it won't be too difficult to pay back. If your credit isn't good enough to get a loan, you could ask your parents to cosign, since they are ready to see you move out anyway. Good luck to you! It is soooo nice having your own place!

Then I guess it shows you are not ready to move out.

Sorry to say but you don't make enough money right now to move. You should stay home and stack up enough money and then move, ONLY if you REALLY have to. And depending on where you live, it may be way too expensive. So, get a better job, save your money and find a roommate, then move. Otherwise, you'll probably end up back a home or on the streets after being evicted and not paying your rent. Trust me, sometimes it's easier to just stay at home. If you ever plan on going to college, it's best to stay at home then leave. Most likely, those who leave home as young as you are, end up going back.

1) Rent a room, not a whole apartment. My brother has lived in Chicago on $500/month for the past 5 years. He has a great place with great roommates, and found it by answering an ad. 2) Get another job, or an additional job. If you have a great resume builder job that pays less than minimum wage, then you need to work two jobs. I worked three jobs at one point in my life, and was able to make $7,000 in one summer without making more than $5/hr. Plus, your additional jobs will keep you out of your house more which may allow you to "buy" a little extra time while you search/save. 3) Find a sugar daddy. There are plenty of dirty old men out there with lots of cash that would love to hang out with a 19 year-old. If this is unacceptable to you, then focus on 1) and 2) above! Good luck!!

Make a deal with your parents. They are testing you on responsibility. 1.) Find a new job immediately as though you're going to be homeless soon. Hopefully a job that involves working with a restaurant and tips. Or become a dog bath and brusher. Apply to many temp jobs. Apply on monster.com, snagajob.com, hot jobs in yahoo. Go to shimmeringresumes.com to make a good resume. 2.) Sell yourself in your interview. When the interviewer asks questions. respond with good answers. 3.) Find shared housing a college dorm and move in with friends or responsible roommates. 4.) Don't lag.

First of all you are an adult. You are suppose to buy your own groceries, clothes and anything else you need....If you are only making $100 a week, maybe you need a new job with more than 3 hours per day. Quit acting like a child. Suck it up. Get a job, move out of your parents house ........

I would stay put and patch things up with the folks. You CAN'T live on your own - or even with roomates - on $100 a week. Even if that is take home pay. Let's say your rent is $650 a month and you share with 4 other people (very very unlikely). Your share would be $162. Assuming that all the bills are included (very unlikely). That would leave you with about $250 a month for groceries, transportaion, clothes, medicine, etc. What about your tuition and books? What about health insurance, entertainment, cosmetics, etc.? I don't think you are ready to move out.

are you taking college classes? if so, can you get a student loan? find someone who is moving and buy their contract. you definitely need roommates to share the cost of the housing. buy only the bare minimum for food until you get a better paying job.

You could always transfer to another college. Is there a traditional 4-yr type school around? If so, maybe consider transfering. I bet the school would accept your non-technical credits from the community college. Plus, they say having a 4 yr degree usually means higher income when you graduate. I have no other ideas... sorry. Good luck!
