How to follow up after applying for a job?

Follow up after applying for a job?

  • I am 15 and I just applied for a job at a small restaurant. They had a "help wanted" sign out, so they needed people obviously. The restaurant does not serve alcohol so I could be a waitress if they needed one, I said in my application that I'd even be interested in washing dishes or being a hostess. When I turned in my application I believe it was the manager who was working and I gave it to him. He asked me for the times I could work and I said that I didn't have anything besides school in my schedule that happened on a daily/weekly basis. Basically saying: I am wanting work and willing to do whatever whenever. I turned it in 6 days ago. How long should I wait before following up, if at all? Advice on the follow up? Thank you :)

  • Answer:

You should have sent a "thank you" card the same day, after talking to the manager. Do it anyways. Follow up every week. Matter of fact multiple times a week if you have to. Sometimes you need to really bug the people and break down some barriers. And of course work hard when you get the job.
