How do you become a Millionaire...what jobs..?

• Well, I really just want to know how do most people become millionaires? My future plan is to just go to medical school to become a surgeon, which is something that I love. But, how do other people besides some types of doctors, Judges, and Lawyers become millionaires. What type of jobs out there bring you in Millions. Is real Estate a good thing to do. What type of jobs will bring you in enough, that after a few years you will be able to affors your own jet, like a Citation X or something.   It isn't really jobs that create millionaires -- its savings and investment, particularly small businesses. Key number one is spending less than you make (savings). Regardless of how much you make, if you spend more you will never be a millionaire. Side note 1: Millionaire is not necessarily the same thing as "rich" and being rich is not necessarily the same thing as "looking rich." There are many millionaires like me -- people who are nearing retirement who have had good jobs and saved & invested a lot of their income. I'm not exactly "The Millionaire Next Door" (It's a book), but I would not impress you. I do not "look" rich. Also, someone with a high income (let's say $250,000), can spend and borrow a ton, but if they do not save and they loose that high paying job, they will end up in the poor house just as fast as someone with a low income ($25,000). Key number two is to invest. For retirement generally and more specifically in something that (1) you are good at and (2) you enjoy. Finding the right combination of your interests and your abilities is the key to building a business. Side note 2: Be careful spending for education. It is an investment, but study after study shows that people who borrow heavily -- regardless of the field of study -- never catch up to the people who borrow only a little or none at all. Key number three: Turn your right combination into a business. You will find that the rich doctors and surgeons are almost all principle partners in some sort of business venture. Same with lawyers (partners in a thriving law firm). You will also find doctors & lawyers & surgeons who are struggling to get by and plumbers & McDonalds franchisees & college dropouts who are very rich (you know, of course, that Bill Gates is a college drop out...) Summary: It isn't what you do so much as who you are and how you do it.
