Can I order things online?

  • I opened a savings and checking account with my school's CFE branch today. I opened it so I could buy my girlfriend this nice little gift online. But I haven't gotten my Visa debit card and I want the gift by next Friday. I have a few numbers but I don't know if they can work to purchase things of the internet. I have the checking account number which contains 13 numbers. I'm thinking that's the one that's closer to being the number I could use to buy things. I'd really like to know if I could order things even if I don't have the physical debit card yet. Or could I ask the bank tellers for the information I need to order online? Thanks in advance!

    Most websites require debit cards or credit cards for purchases. Unless they ask for a routing number and checking account number... you can't just use your bank account information to purchase things online until you receive your debit card. The bank tellers wouldn't have the debit card information to give you as that information is not listed on your account profile. Your debit card number and checking account number are two completely different numbers. Plus debit cards have the 3 digit code on the back and an expiration date... as your bank account does not.

Don't go using your bank details online. They take more than what they're supposed to. Get a PayPal account, you can get refunds with this

Some Web sites allow you to order just by entering your bank account information. Most require a credit or debit card. You'll have to check with the site you want to use.
