What medical job should take?

Should I take a job that in addition to my Soc Sec & pension would leave me short of what I need to live?

• I'm 64. I get Soc Sec & a small pension. The 2 combined amt to covering 60% of expenses. I'm looking for a PT job to cover the other 40%. Now, I use my savings 2 cover the 40%. Others in my group say that I should take any job even if it doesn't cover the 40%. I maintain that by doing that, I'm still short & still would have 2 spend time 2 find a 2nd job 2 cover the shortfall & because I am working at a job, I would have less time to find a 2nd job to make up the shortfall. Should I take the job even though I would still be short or hold out for a job that would cover the 40% shortfall? (Assume that expenses are cut to the max & consider the job market for a 64 yr old).

  If you were the government you would simply borrow the difference and let your heirs pay off the debt. But you are not the government, so you have only 2 options. 1) Raise your income by accepting that part-time job, even if it is not as good as you want or need it to be. Keep in mind that half a loaf of bread is better than no bread at all. You are clearly better off being only 10% or 15% short than the 40% you are now. 2) CUT YOUR EXPENSES! That's what I would like our government to do, but they don't understand that principle either. After retirement it should be possible to cut those expenses you previously had related to your old job.
