Real Estate/Private Equity Firm?

  • I am 16 years old, in 11th grade and I have an interest in the finance industry as well as real estate investment and development. I have dreams of eventually starting my own real estate/private equity firm and even making the Forbes 400. I really believe in myself and read all of the business books I can and I get good grades in school (all mid-high 90s). I hope to attend a reputable college such as University of Pennsylvania. Should I get a degree in real estate specifically, or in finance and just take some classes about real estate? Am I on the right track? How should I start out? Do I need an MBA? Any tips or opinions would be great! Thank you.

    IMHO, you should go for a finance degree and start to specialize you afterward. A MBA will help a lot, but an internship in a real estate/private equity firm will be good. Regarding some classes about real estate, you can register yourself to the CAIA exam (they have some real estate and private equity courses)
