How do you work out average stock? (Stock turnover ratio)?
-
I need to work out the average stock from a financial report in order to then work out the stock turnover ratio. How do I go about doing this? Thanks

Answer:
Unless you have better numbers available (doubtful), average inventory = (starting inventory + ending inventory)/2 (I hate calling this stock turnover because stock means something different to me)

I think you mean "volume" which is the daily average number of shares traded over a 30 day period. Compare this figure to the shares issued.

Closing stock from the balance sheet divided by cost of sales from the P&L x 365 gives stock turnover in days.
