• So, I need some advice. I got this scholarship, that gives me money for university and some money for "living expenses". I chose to live at home and go to a local university so that I can keep that living expense money as cash. It gives me $7500 each year for 4 years as living expenses and 10k a year for tuition for for a total of 4 years. I spend some of it each year on expenses, but I still have some left. I'm in 2nd year out of a 4 year program and I plan to use the remaining money for grad school after. Now here's the issue. Dad is unemployed, and parents asked me to put the money to pay for the house. I was like, no, I don't want to waste it, and told them that I had locked the money in a savings account. My logic is that if I put the money into the house payment, then it's just going to prolong the possibility of selling the house. Either way we can't afford the house, and it will be sold in the next 12 months. I don't want to waste the money I planned on saving for further education on a stupid house, and I stayed local so that I would be able to do that. So, there is 10k sitting in my bank earning literally no interest cause my bank is stupid. Now, finance people, what do I do with my money? I need to put it somewhere where it is earning good interest and is somewhat secure. I also need to be able to add to it. I will be receiving another 15k over the next 2 years, 10k of which I intend to add to the savings, bringing the total to 20k eventually. It needs to be available to me by 2015. Advice?
