Why did the stock market crash in 2008?

What companies were affected by the stock market crash in 2008?

  • what large and small companies were affected by the stock market crash and how. thanks

  • Answer:

Companies are either public (meaning they sell their stock) or private (meaning they do not sell stock. All companies, public and private were affected. Labor Day 2007 was the last high, good times, for publicly and privately owned companies. The stock value and/or net worth of all but a very few dropped. Most have come at least half way back as of today. A drop in industrial production = a drop in capacity utilization = an increase in unemployment and a decrease in inventories = less disposable income and fewer goods to buy = a drop in industrial production = full circle back to beginning. A shorter list would be which ones weren't.

almost all companies were affected why? because majority of the companies had sub-contracts with bigger corporations. for example dowj, s&p 500, DAX(german) nyse, where all affected thus companies who were sub-contracted within these companies took a loss as well. there were swedish and european bonds that shot up by 36% other than that the economy tanked.
