Are Investment Banks considered a cyclical company?
-
Are investment banks a cyclical company? Do they rise more when the economy rises and vice versa? This question refers specifically to Goldman Sachs. I know a typical bank is cyclical, because most of the cash flow depends on deposits and loans, but an investment bank is more dependent on their investment activities.

Answer:
The market clearly goes thru cycles, and investment banking is directly affected. So yeah, it's cyclical.
