What writing sample for a congressional internship?

• I was required a writing sample to apply for an internship in a consultancy firm related with energy issues such as providing industry with information on project opportunities, political and economic risk, financing and business to government relations.   Well, most political and economic risks to energy companies have to do with their location of certain operations. For example, many feel that energy companies that explore and produce in politically fragile nations are at more of a risk then say a company with operations largely based in the United States or Canada. Also, besides the political risks, some of the economic risks include drilling in deepwater, harsh environmets which we saw with the BP spill can be a disaster. But as most of the easy hydrocarbons are found it will force energy companies to look in harsher environments where drilling and operations are more costly and dangerous.
