What is a bond market?

In the current market and economy, what is the relationship, if any, of bond funds to stocks?

  • As stocks go down, what do bond funds like FSICX do? What do bond funds do during a stock market crash?

  • Answer:

FSICX invests in lower quality debt (higher risk), u.s. gov't securities, and many others. It's a big blend looking for income and not appreciation. It's expense fee is .73 % which is probably a little lower than average. Your investment decisions have to depend on a lot of things. What is your age, occupation, net worth, expected spending/savings, when do you want to retire. If I were in early retirement I might consider this as a PORTION of my assets. It's not really risky like the stock market, and it's not really conservative. You would probably want to hold this one for at least 5 years.
