What's the difference between the "open" and "current" spread?

SPREAD BETTERS; whats the story of your successes and failures in your spread betting career experience?

• I am 18 years old, and just learning about something new I've got in to called spread betting along with fundamental & technical analysis using the internet and a practice account. My experience is that spread betting can be very lucrative in terms of rewards (and losses!), and I am just wondering what your personal experience is with it in terms of your successes and failures?   Well, this has been a great year for me after having made some 130k profit trading stocks. I don't use many technical analysis indicators but using a couple of moving averages crossovers can be very helpful. And in most cases it is just a case of looking at a graph and follow the trend - many traders try to time market bottoms which is way too dangerous. However, when I had just started out (with limited capital) I still remember the feeling of complete catastrophe that I've suffered after losing £10k in a few hours trading the Dow online after too many shandies ;)
