How does double coverage work in WA between a parent's insurance and a child's new job that offers benefits?

I just got a new job coming out of college that offers benefits under Regence Uniform or Group Health. My parents' insurance is Regence Blueshield. Will I be able to be covered by my own and my parents' plan? If so, which one will be my primary? Do I have to change my insurance info. with all my doctors and medical supply companies?

Under Obamacare, once your employer offers you health insurance coverage, even if you choose to not take it, you no longer qualify for coverage under your parent's insurance policy. YOUR policy, is always primary. If you get married and have double coverage through your spouse, their policy would be secondary. Yes, you'll have to change all your insurance information.

Your insurance will be your primary. You'll need to check with your parents insurance company as to whether you'd still be on their policy as a secondary or whether your dropped.

You will not be able to be covered under both. You will be covered only under the insurance from your job. You cannot remain covered under your parents' insurance if you are over 19, have a job that offers health insurance, and are no longer a student. You will have to change your insurance information with all your doctors and medical supply companies.
