UNEMPLOYMENT APPEALS?

Unemployment appeals question?

  • I filed for unemployment months ago after being let go from my job. I had a phone interview with the unemployment office and after the interview I was awarded unemployment benefits. I have been getting paid benefits for just over 3 months now. The company I worked for just filed an appeal and I have another phone interview with a referee in 2 weeks. My question is will my benefits now stop until after the interview and a decision is made or will they continue until a decision is made?

  • Answer:

The fact that your former company is now making noises by challenging your claim is in your favor. However, you just never know what they'll try to do - If its possible to get in touch with a former worker from this company, you may be able to find out what's up. If their claim stands up (and I don't want to scare you) they may require you to repay, so remember that any decision on this matter by the UE, may be appealed. This is where you may provide corroborating testimony, either from an employee or other witness.
