Will my speeding ticket raise my insurance rate?
-
I am under my Dad's insurance and I just received my first (and hopefully last) speeding ticket. Will this ticket raise the monthly insurance rate? Will the insurance company (State Farm) even hear of this ticket? Thanks, Reece

Yes they will. I used to work for state farm. Whichever auto you are rated on will be affected, most likely the next time it renews. Also, since it was that much over the speed limit, it will probably be considered an excess speed, which usually is even more points that we insurance companies have to charge for, which is an even bigger charge to you. Sorry for the bad news. I honestly am not sure if it would help to take that class or not (as far as insurance rates go)

it depends, i need more info, how fast were you going, and what was the speed limit that was posted? on the ticket is there a mandatory court date? please post this additional information and i will check back......... ok since you didnt get points or a court date, that is a good thing, go on state farms website and see if it talks about insurance rates going up? i think rates might only go up if you got points on your ticket...... if it does go up i dont think it will be that much, just be extra extra cautious in the future and always wear your seat belt i dont know what state you in live in but in new jersey, $48 bucks for not wearing it

If this was your first ticket and you live in CA, we have the option of doing a class in person or online and paying the fines if you do that it doesnt count on your DMV record, it is still expensive for the class but not as high as raising your ins. rates for the next three years thats how long speeding tickets are against you on your rates
