How do insurance company pay out large money?

How can I make my auto insurance company pay the money they owe?

  • Approximately 3 weeks ago my Tahoe was damaged in a hail storm. I filed a claim, and an appraiser was sent to look at the damages. He said he would turn in the info and i would be paid soon. About a week passed and i contacted (Gainsco) my ins. provider. They said "they hadnt recieved the info. For the last 2 weeks i have contacted the ins daily to try to get info. They do not return my calls when i leave a message. They give me a different excuse each time i can pin down someone to talk to! They are giving me the run around!! How can i make them step up to their responsibility? i have full coverage all fees were current and i was in good standing with ins provider prior to this. I live in Midland TX.

First, do you have an agent? Ask them to intercede. Sounds like you got an "outside adjuster" who never turned the paperwork in. If you still aren't getting a response from the insurance company, you need to file a complaint in writing with the TX Insurance Commissioner, here: http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/consumer/complfrm.html That you've filed the claim (presumably you have a claim number!) and no one is responding to you.

1st of all, do you have a claim adjuster handling? do you have their name? if you have name, then call again and ask for the supervisors name of the adjuster. even if you leave message, give claim #, date of loss, and also that this is a hail claim. also tell them the date the appraiser came to see the Tahoe. hail damage claims are no brainers. estimate written and a 2 party check paid to insured/body shop or insured and lien holder minus the deductible. normally for hail damage, claims should be paid in a week; in some companies, they have a 30 day rule, meaning that the claim should be paid and closed in 30 days. if no response from a supervisor, then call and ask for the managers name and call them. if no call backs w/in 3 days, call the insurance department and file a claim. good luck

Call your insurance agent/broker. That's what they're there for and they can shake more trees than you to get something done.

write a mail to Gainsco mark a copy to NAIC.

File a complaint with the Texas State Insurance Commissioner's office. That will put a fire under their behinds.
