What was the medical cause of Jesus's death?

If a death certificate states cause of death is pending, can a person file for an amended certificate?

  • If a life insurance company, in order to complete a claim, requests a copy of the death certificate that lists the cause of death, but the official death certificate that was issued states "pending" because an autopsy had to be performed, will the beneficiary have to file for an amended certificate that lists "natural causes" instead? This is a situation that would take place in the state of Tennessee if that helps.

  • Answer:

Yes. The life insurance company CANNOT pay out the claim, without an official cause of death noted on the death certificate. You're probably better off waiting until the cause of death is noted, and letting the insurance company know that it's "pending autopsy".

Other answers

The beneficiary will have to wait until the autopsy is completed. The life insurer will not pay the claim until the death certificate states the cause of death.
