Average insurance rates for a retail store?

How much would you roughly expect to pay for insurance of a retail store?

  • The retail store in question is a gift store

  • Answer:

In Ontario you could expect a starting premium of about $850 + tax. You would only get a rate that low if it was a rented space (so no building coverage), you only had a couple of employees, sales were relatively small (say under $100,000 / year), and inventory was relatively small. Change any one of those variables slightly and it could easily be $2500 / year .... heck, it could be $50,000 / year. Hope that helps?
