How do insurance companies or employers check eligibility events such as spouse changing jobs?
-
if you tell your employer that your spouse is changing jobs and gonna change to other spouses insurance
-
Answer:
OK, you wanting to switch to your spouse's new insurance plan, is NOT a qualifying event. Depending on the type of event, there is always going to be supporting documentation. Marriage or divorce, is supported with a divorce decree or marriage certificate. Birth or death, is supported with a birth or death certificate. And if your spouse loses their job and needs to be added to your plan, you'll use that certificate of credible coverage to show that the group plan ended. If they get another job, though, you can't dump them off your plan again, until open enrollment. And you can't dump YOURSELF off your plan, either, until open enrollment.
