Getting health insurance?

  • I am a 38 yr old female amd my partner of 17 yrs is a 45 yr old male.my job does not provide health insurance and my partner is self employed. We live in washington state.A few yrs ago we applied for basic health insurance and they wanted my last income tax statement witch I do not have.We need insurance badly my partner has asthma and needs medicine and we both need physicals. Is there any insurance companies that will give health insurance without wanting income tax returns.or proof of income. We need a health insurance provider who will give insurance like getting car insurance just pay a monthly fee no questions asked. Is there health insurance companies like that.

  • Answer:

I"ve never heard of a regular insurance company asking for proof of income - usually that's only for welfare type health insurance plans. However, if you have no coverage right now, they will have to consider whether they want to charge you EXTRA for stuff that's wrong right now, or flat out exclude it from coverage. IT will depend on how bad his asthma is. If you are in perfect health, and not overweight, YOUR policy will probably cost about $400 a month - more than the cost of a physical with bloodwork. His is probably going to run about $550 a month, and depending on how well his asthma is controlled, they will likely exclude any asthma related costs. They ARE going to ask questions about your health, and ask for verification from medical providers.

I guess I'm confused as to why you're being asked for proof of income to get a health insurance policy. Are you trying to apply through a state program that's for low income people? Or, since you're referring to him as your "partner," are you trying to apply for a joint policy and they want proof that you file your taxes together (to show an established relationship)? Aside from one of those circumstances above, I'm having a hard time figuring out why you'd need to show your income tax returns to get health insurance. I've never had to do that for any policy I've ever had.

I am sorry to know about your partner's health.. Don't go for any company without finding out its bacground, quite a few companies are scams in the way that they won't approve your claims.. Look for a reliable company which is financially strong. Also, I advise you to file your returns if thats what it will take you to get good insurance. Since it is off season, filing the returns may not take more than few days. You can ge more info at - http://healthinsuranceace.com/saving-on-health-insurance-is-easy http://www.bcbs.com

you can always get your income tax statements from the irs if you need them. i'd call bc/bs. if you do not any major health problems, and u have not seen any doctors who have any past medical records on your health, u do not need to inform them.

Blue Cross in Washington, http://www.wa.regence.com/. It is likely that annual physicals/gynecological exams are covered without having to meet a deductible first. I've never heard of a health insurance company asking for financials, very odd. You can apply online through the site above. Good luck.
