Do you need renters insurance on your motorcycle?

  • I'm 22 and I just got a 96 suzuki gsx600f katana and i want to get insurance on it and all state is telling me i need renters insurance because im under 25. But what can you possibly put on your bike? Can someone explain this to me if i need it or not? This is what he keeps saying "..it's not for the Bike its for your residence...it covers your belongings. Underwriting just requires a supporting line of insurance since since it is a high performance bike and principle operator under 25.."

    renters insurance is for renting a house or apt. auto insurance is for vehicles. renters insurance won't cover your bike if you're in an accident. it only covers the contents of your apt- you can't keep your bike in your apt can you. if allstate doesn't want you as a client because of your age, just get quotes from some other companies. they will carry people under 25, but the rates are higher. when you turn 25 the rates drop a little.
