Does blue cross insurance cover contacts?

What is a good insurance company which cover maternity in SF bay area apart from Anthem blue cross.?

• Hi, I just moved from Australia to San francisco bay area 2 months ago.Im thinking to get a health insurance that covers maternity as well.Could you pls recommend a good insurance company.The only one I checked so far,is Anthem blue cross.when I checked the price in August they said with 7500 deductible monthly premium will be 148 now Im ready to buy the insurance and called them today and now they are saying the price went up to 353 a month for the same plan.Is dat possible for price to go double in just 2 months..? also do I have to be a permanent resident to get a insurance cover?pls help me.

  For the most part, private policies with maternity coverage have flat out disappeared, thanks to our recent Health Reform Act. The ones that stil offer maternity coverage, will have a HUGE deductible, and increase rates. Yes, prices CAN change like that. For the most part, you WILL need to be a permanent resident to get coverage. And you can't be pregnant before you buy the coverage - most of the time, you have to wait at least a year, before the maternity benefits kick in. That's a year before CONCEIVING. If you didn't know, $7500 is darned close to the cash price of giving birth. If you avoid the anesthetics and c-sections, you can "cash price" a birth in a birthing center for $4,000, including all prenatal care. In other words, maternity coverage is a prepayment plan. You're probably just better off "self funding" and budgeting accordingly.
