What are some health insurance that is affordable?

What are some good affordable health insurance options?

  • In another 4 weeks I'll be losing my current health insurance so I need to find a new one. I don't have a lot of money at the end of the month to devote to insurance but I believe I have enough, I can probably do like 100-150 a month. My biggest concern is if something happens to me and I am hospitalized. I would hate to get that bill.

It's not that easy. If it were that would be the only plan I'd need to sell. Before someone could answer this they'd need to know the following: First, they'd need to understand your definition of "affordable". Cheap policies usually mean limited benefits, which may be O K as long as you are aware of those limitations, and probably won't be "affordable" if you ever really need to use the policy. Second, they'd need to know your height and weight because insurance companies will decline to accept you or may increase your premium based on your weight. Third, they'd need to know what your current health condition is because insurance companies will decline to accept you or may increase your premium based on your current health. Fourth, they'd need to know your age, because the company that's best if you're 20 is not going to be the company that's best if you're 50. Fifth, they'd need to know your location, because insurance companies do not write policies in every state. In other words, talk with a local agent that works with all of the major companies in your area. The agent can help you find the best plan for your situation and budget. They can explain what you get and, more importantly, what you don't get with the "cheap" policies. There is no extra charge using an agent. This is not something that can be answered in this forum. I agree with Stingray - nobody should have to pay for healthcare. The doctors and nurses should work for free. (tongue in cheek)

This is exactly why we need socialized healthcare in the US No one should have to pay for healthcare. right now we pay a fortune for premiums and then only 70% is maybe covered. If you have a quintuple CABG ( heart by pass surgery, you will still get a bill for $150,000. do you really want to pay for that surgery for the rest of your life. or would you rather spend that money on other things

If you are insured by an employer, you are entitled to the Cobra program. You would be able to continue your present ins. at a reasonable cost.

The only health insurance options that are available everywhere are for employees of the federal government, dependents of military personnel, etc. There are no other good affordable health insurance options that are available in more than one state each. You must either (a) get whichever option is available in the state where you already live, or (b) move to the state with the option that you want. In New York State, no one can get insurance for less than $200 per month. In California, some individuals can get insurance for $100-$150 per month, but others have to pay over $2000 per month. There are 50 states with 50 different answers. I do not have that much time. Please post your question again with: 1. The name of your state 2. Your ZIP code 3. A list of all existing medical conditions that you have 4. Your age 5. Whether or not you are disabled 6. Whether or not you are pregnant 7. Whether or not you are a full-time student

You'd better contact an independent insurance agent who can figure out which is the right plan for you with the right insurance company in y our state. If you need a doctor in the meantime, find a nearby medical clinic, usually a community health center, or county or city clinic. You will have to pay but it is less than going to a private doctor.

$100 a month will buy you decent coverage in most states - if you're under 25, not overweight, perfectly healthy with no preexisting conditions, and you're willing to pay the first $2500 in medical bills every year. If that's not you, your pricing is unrealistic.
