Can I work while on employment insurance?

If I get a new job, can I use their dental insurance towards work I had done before employment?

  • I had some dental work done and I'm getting a second job to help pay for it. This job, unlike my current, has benefits, including Dental. Would I be able to use their dental insurance towards a bll, I'm already paying off? That would help immensly.

  • Answer:

No, you cannot do so. Insurance is not 'retroactive'. It will cover future dental work needed, but will not pay for any done prior to the inception date of your dental policy.

Lets get something clear about medical benefits. They are run by insurance companies. Your company only organizes the policy premium payments, either by paying it all (very good benefit) or by deducting off your paycheck (not a great benefit...you could buy your own insurance cheaper probably). Your employer is forwarding your claim and bills to the insurance company. The insurance company is opening your file and then laughing at your claim. You cannot make a claim for something that happened while you were not insured.

No, that would be like buying car insurance after you hit a tree or life insurance after you died. Insurance only covers items while you're covered...not retroactively and not after it's over.

It won't cover any work you had done, BEFORE the insurance started.

No--you will only be covered from your employment date
