Where can I get cheap short term rental insurance online?

What is the best temporary/short term insurance a person can get?

  • I am a substitute teacher and looking for insurance to get me through the next year. I would like something with a low deductible. The search online is a bit overwhelming

  • Answer:

I have been an insurance (health) for over 18 years, I would never recommend anyone purchase a temporary or short term policy. Here is why I do not recommend this type of policy. 1. These plans normally exclude pre-existing conditions 2. These plans normally do not offer a HIPPA situation, most will make you ineligible for HIPPA coverage. 3. Once a person has a temporary plan, and really gets sick they are now "un-insurable" for a permanent plan I personally have helped 5 people this year 2006, that called me after purchasing temporary health plans from other agents, the agents never explained these possible scenarios. Again the consumer needs to collect all the facts, and possible scenarios before purchasing any health plan, a cheap plan is not always a good plan.

I am assuming that you are talking about medical insurance and if you are Assurant formerly known as Fortis has a student policy that is purchased on a 60, 90, 180 day term that is very reasonable. Look in the Yellow Pages were you live under Insurance "health".

What kind of insurance? Health, life, home, etc.?

Well you have to get individual insurance since you aren't on a group plan. What state are you from? Im from NJ and the best individual insurance I know of for a reasonable price is Horizon EPO Plus. The rates depend on your age and where you are from. Individual insurance can and is pricey but its important to have it. If I was you I would get a high deductible plan so you don't spend as much until you find something permanent.

HMO is better than a PPO, but you'll have restrictions with an HMO. If Its just for one year go with the HMO plan and shop for the best in your area.
