How does short term disability work?

Short term disability question about returning to work?

I'm on very short term disability (4-15-09 through 5-12-09). So my question is how soon after my doctor clears me can I return to work? My employer has told me that my job is not in jeopardy while I'm out. Is my company required to let me return as soon as I'm cleared?
Answer:

~~Your doctor will put a release date on a prescription.This is the day you can return to work. For short term as you had, you should have no problem return to your usual work, especially since your boss has reassured you. Once the doctor says you are released then the company has to employ you again.~~
