What health care insurance company should I go with that can cover me getting gastric bypass?

  • I am about to be 18 and since I graduated I was kicked off my parents tricare insurance. I talked to my moms doctor and she said I should get a insurance policy that will pay for me to get gastric bypass. If you saw my other question you know why I need gastric bypass to loose weight and be out of the red zone of getting diabetes and high blood pressure which is what my mom has. I went to the doctors a year ago to make sure there was nothing with my thyroid. I was looking at Kaiser but I am not sure which insurer to go with that will pay for me to have this surgery! I live in Maryland if that helps can you please help me find a insurer that will cover me getting bypass surgery????     Unfortunately, at your weight you will be declined with all individual insurance companies. Your only option to get health insurance would be with a group plan, and there is no guarantee that the group plan would cover the surgery, or with the Maryland state high risk pool insurance.
