What is the return policy on eBay?

Ebay return policy Can anyone help?

  • Okay well a negligent buyer who "supposedly" had his son go onto his account a buy a game from me asked if he could cancel his bid i said no. and he sent me a messaging saying that once he got it he would return it due to my 7 day return policy. is he allowed to do this? shouldn't there be a reason for the return such as damages?

  • Answer:

If you need a reason, you need to state it in your return policy. If you have no such limitations in your return policy, then he doesn't need a reason. Me, I'd rather have the bid cancel than deal with all the headaches of a return.

Yes. If you have a 7 day return policy then they can return it within 7 days. It would be dumb of you to send it to him for him to turnaround and send it back. Tell him to pay your listing fees and you'll call it even.

If you havn't sent it yet, I suggest you allow him to cancel for the cost of your re-lising fees ... EBay no longer allows sellers to leave 'neg feeback' for buyers, so he can do almost whatever he likes (including raising a 'significantly not as described' refund claim) ...

Not if you don't specify that in your return policy. You can try and refuse it and he will file an appeal with eBay and they will either settle it or show you the guidelines on how they recommend you deal with it.

Its best to go as per the ebay rules and regulations since the penalty would be high.

he probably can... they could say they bought it for their son and he didn't like it so they're returning it
