• for anybody who has ever worked at AFLAC, what can I expect to make as a first year sales associate? I'm looking for a position where I can make between $30,000 and $40,000 a year. what is your experience in working there and if you feel comfortable telling me, a complete stranger, approximately how much did you make in your first year working there?

  If you want to make 30-40k your first year this is not the job for you. I worked with Aflac directly out of college and I will tell you that It was surely a horrible experience. A majority of my time was spent knocking business owners doors, making cold calls. More often then not, the door would immediately get slammed in my face. Ofcourse on occasion the business owner would be kind enough to inform me that I was the 4th aflac sales associate to knock on their door that week...that was a best case scenario. I stayed on about 6 months...much longer than the average aflac rep. and in the six months I made about 2,000 dollars...or about 4 policies. To say the least after I paid for all my testing and gasoline driving from cold call...to cold call..to cold call I was in the hole...big time! If you were to listen to one piece of advice, let it be this...DO NOT ACCEPT THIS POSITION! If percentages are correct and they usually are you will not find success with this position. If you are looking for a career this is not the path you want to take. If you are looking for a legitimate way to make an honest living I would advice you to continue your career search...there are plenty of jobs out there that pay between 30-40 grand that offer, benefits, 401k's, pension and Paid time off.
