How do the poor benefit from universal health care?

Having Surgery! Help! How Can I Directly Benefit From Obama's Health Care Plan?

  • Please I have no idea how I can benefit from his new health care plan. I am having surgery soon and cannot afford it..I need it. I need help Please.

  • Answer:

No one can benefit from Obama's plan, because Obama's plan was rejected by Congress. Congress enacted its own plan. After your surgery, you can benefit from Congress's plan, by using it to buy insurance that will cover future surgery. Before you began to need this surgery, you could have benefited from Congress's plan, by using it to buy insurance that would cover this surgery. However, it is too late now. Insurance cannot be used for surgery that you already need when you get the insurance. You have to get the insurance before you begin to need the surgery.

It is difficult to derive any benefits from something that does not exist. There is no such thing as "0bama's health care plan". There is, however, the legislation put forth and sign into law on March 23, 2010. It made possible the Pre-existing Conditions Insurance Plan (PCIP) which lets uninsurable people (which you are one since you need surgery) purchase a health insurance policy. You must be uninsured for at least 6 months, there will be a premium, and there will be deductibles and co-insurance so your surgery is not going to be free. You can get more information here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/PCIP.html Other than that, your only other option would be welfare.

There are no new public benefits. If you are unable to receive medicad, you will have to pay for the surgery yourself. Work with the doctors and hospitals to see how they can give you a discount.

You're NOT going to directly benefit from Obama's health care plan. The RESULT of that plan, is to drive UP the prices of insurance, to make it HARDER for people to have coverage, and to have EVEN MORE Americans UNINSURED.

That won't help you at all. If you don't have insurance, apply for medicaid.
