What is the process of getting a license?

I am in the process of getting my insurance agent license. What is the best place to look for my first job?

  • I have been working on a temp license selling some health insurance, working from home. I was trained by another work- at-home broker. Anyone have experience here? Should I just keep doing this and do my cold calls etc. or would it make more sense to work for someone else first to learn more and make more steady money? I am studying for my exam right now after taking the class so I should have my license in a couple of weeks.

  • Answer:

An independent agency. They'll train you up, and have markets you can use - but unless you're doing backup work for a salesperson, you'll be straight commission.

visit this site www.mdrt.org First u need to ask yourself, which product concept selling u are good at Insurance is only a product. Successful insurance gurus are strong at concept selling. Find an area that u are good at first and then find a company or broker to be your mentor. Dun look at any immediate salary or remuneration. You may need to learn from your chosen mentor then only move to the next stage. I have seen many salaried based agent doing poorly bcoz they lack of motivation. good luck
