Am I eligible for Unemployment Benefits in Ma?

Unemployment Benefits in CA?

  • Hi,I recently applied for Unemployment benefits in CA state ..I lost my job in January of this year and still actively looking for job. I haven't filed for unemployment benefits until last week. I got my Green card in March of this year (after I lost my job). My employer is based out of Boston, MA. I filed for Unemployment benefits in CA as I live in CA (living from last 10 yrs). I got acknowledgemt from CA Benefits center stating they have received my application but the Insurance award sheet says $0 for all the items like Max Benefits for week, Total Benefits etc., including the 3 quarters of gross column too.. So, I'm not sure whether I'm going to get any unemployment benefits or is there any other form which I need to fill before benefits start? b'cos on back the acknowledgment letter they have mentioned that once I fill out next set of forms which will be mailed the benefits will start..but I'm little confused b'cos the $$ figure in acknowledgemtn sheet says Zero (0). So, can anybody tell me the procedure please? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

That's because EDD hasn't received any "premiums" for the past 6 months. I think you've made a mistake by not applying immediately. I'm not sure if you will get any unemployment at this point. They'll follow the rules strictly here, especially now that they are issuing IOU's.
