Speeding ticket and insurance help?

Does the first speeding ticket affect insurance?

  • My friend just got a speeding ticket, and she doesn't want to tell her dad because he will get very angry with her, so I was wondering if anybody knew whether or not Progressive car insurance (if it matters what kind you have) would raise insurance rates beings this is her first speeding ticket. She got six points deducted off of her license. It is her first speeding ticket EVER, so we were wondering if it will affect her insurance so that she doesn't have to tell her dad. (If it doesn't affect it, she doesn't have to tell him and she will just pay the ticket.) Help help help!

  • Answer:

It depends on what state you're in, an dhow fast you were going. But since it's a six pointer, that means she was clearly going WAY more than 15mph over the speed limit, and yes, at best she'll see the rates go up. More likely, though, the policy will get cancelled.

If you take defensive driving, it wont show up. Can take the class online. Althought lying probably isnt the best idea. Wouldn't be hard for him to find out if he really wanted to
