What will my phone insurance cover?

I got pick pocketed, will my house insurance cover the theft of my phone?

  • Someone stole my phone out of my pocket. Will my house insurance cover it or will the excess charge be too high for it to be worth making a claim. And I know I shouldn't leave my phone on display! Any answers appreciated greatly.

  • Answer:

Nobody on here can answer for you- each and every house insurance policy is different I'm afraid. Depending on how much you paid/what insurer you went to it could potentially be covered but the only way to know is to get out your policy and take a good look at the fine print. This will also tell you what the excess charge would be should you be covered. P.S- people on here saying "was your house pick-pocketed" clearly do not have any experience in owning/insuring a house. Extended cover to include items damaged/stolen outside the house is common!!

In theory, yes, but your deductible may be more than the phone is worth.

Check your insurance policy, you normally get SOME LIMITED COVER for this type of claim.

Your deductible is probably more than the phone costs. So it's not worth claiming

some do some dont. You will have to check your policy or call your insurance company to find out.

Even if it does: 1. Your deductible is undoubtedly more than the value of the phone. 2. Make a couple of claims for dumb things like this and you'll find your policy terminated.

You need first off to call the police and file a report. Call your service provider and inform them of the issue and have them put a hold on your account so you're not charged for someone else running up your bill. Call your home owners and ask if they will cover it. Some do, some dont. I dont think they will if you were outside the home, off the property.

Likely, the phone isn't as much as the deductible.

no... why would it... you would have to insure the phone separately!!

Unblack

call the police, they will know what to do... best of luck
