What happens if you don't pay for a magazine subscription?

Should i pay a collection notice from a magazine?

  • i got a collection notice from a magazine subscription amount of $5.00, should i pay it. I did subscribed it and they sent me a first free issue but i didnt like it at all so i decided not pay any of the bills they sent me. The 2nd issue never come but they keep sending me bill and now i receive this collection notice from Sunrise Credit Service, i dont even know if this company is legit. I want to pay and move on since its only 5 bucks, it isnt worth the trouble anyways what happens after i pay it off, will it stay on my credit report?

  • Answer:

You made a mistake--you should have informed the magazine that you were canceling your subscription. By not doing anything, you were accepting that you would be paying for the magazine. I would call the magazine, make sure that the collection notice is legitimate, and if it is, I would pay it. It's not worth messing up your credit report for $5. In the future remember that once you sign up for something, you can't just walk away from it.

They did that to me one time, they just kept sending letters. I googled it and finally just took one of the letters they sent and wrote: "I did not order this, Better Business Bureau contacted." directly on top of it. By simply doing that they dropped everything and left me alone, note that I did actually order it because I wanted a free umbrella, but they still dropped it.
