How do I add/use my American Express gift card on Paypal?

American Express gift card on PayPal?

  • Hey guys. I was able to register my American Express gift card for online purchases by calling their gift card support. Now I want to use it on PayPal. I went to confirm the gift card as a credit card, and it went through. But now it's asking me for a 4-digit number on my credit card statement (gift cards don't have a statement) so it says for me to just wait for it in the mail too. Is there any way for me to get that code early by somehow seeing a statement of this registered gift card? I don't really want to wait for the mail guy.

Not possible, Paypal does NOT accept prepaid cards. While a few slip through, Paypal does not want them and when it detects such a card, will freeze your account. Then you have to supply a bank account, a real credit card and proof that you are 18 or older. Since you appear to be 14, this would be a problem. Since the gift card doesn't have statements, AMEX isn't going to mail you anything. Paypal knows this--which is one of the ways they detect the use of a gift card. PS, you can't use eBay either.
