How much will my credit go up?

How much will my credit score go down when I get my name removed from someone's credit card account?

  • I shared a credit card with my sweetie for a long time, but going to get my name removed. I was an addition to the account. Wanting to know how much my credit score will take a hit. I have great credit. Thanks!

  • Answer:

If you and she are no longer together, then get your name removed and don't worry about the credit score. By the way, they may not let you take your name off if there is money owed on the card.

If you are only an Authorized User, you will be able to get your name off the card but the account or Trade Line will still appear on your credit report as Terminated. Your score will go down maybe 10-20 points once this takes place. If the balance is more than 50% of the limit, you want to get off the card. If you want the account REMOVED from your credit profile you will have to send a dispute letter once you have your name removed from the company. Quesitions call 1-888-633-3317
