Balance paid off with credit card, but sent a check?

• Hello. I sent a check to Verizon recently, because I was slightly late in my payment. Today, I visited my local Verizon Wireless provider to change my cell phones, because my previous phone was completely dead. The employee who I spoke with told me that Verizon Wireless did not receive my check, so I could not change my phone. So I asked him if there was any other way I could pay my bill, and he said I could pay it off with my credit card. So, I did without realizing that I had already sent a check to them about a week earlier. Will Verizon void my check if they notice that my balance had already been payed?
