How do I get my Best Buy credit card number?

How do people get your credit card number without you knowing?

  • I've used my credit card online to buy clothes and random stuff off amazon. Of course I've used it around town, but I've never left it out so people can see it. I have been very careful with that because my parents have had their credit card number stolen also. What I don't understand is how someone can get your card number and make purchases. Does this person have my home address? Wouldn't they have to have shown ID to make those purchases(one was $1000 for southwest airline tickets) Luckily I am a student and my credit has a max of $500 and it can't go over that limit so all the purchases this a*****e tried to make wouldn't go thru except for one ($50 for verizonwireless). The lady was reading them off to me tho and it totaled over $2000!! I was shocked...quite frankly I still am. I'm just trying to understand a little so that I can protect myself so this won't happen again.

  • Answer:

If you use a credit card anywhere, the store will have the copy of your name, account number and the expiration date. A real pro can make a hard copy and charge it to the account. The first thing you should do is put your name on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. The toll free # is 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus and must be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active. Then call the credit card co and inform them of the fraud and have then can't the card immediately.
