How can you have an unlawful eviction remove from credit report?

Eviction on my credit that is paid off, can I get another apartment?

  • I had an eviction on my credit and I paid if off. The problem is they credit company said that it could not be removed from my credit report even though it is paid off, they said that it will show the balance as being paid but it will still be on there. My question is I am trying to move and what to lease another apartment will this eviction stop me from getting another apartment although it's paid off simply because it will still be on my report? I think it is messed up that they will not remove it but I know not to let it get there in the first place now.

    A landlord will be more likely to pass you up for the next candidate. Do you have extra cash? Tell the landlord what happened and offer extra months rent upfront or a larger deposit. I've heard that few landlords will turn you down if you pay 6 months rent upfront.

Sucks that is how it works, but it doesn't come off immediately. I can last on your credit history for about 7 years. What you can do is make sure that you have documentation showing you paid it off when searching for an apartment. Then it is up to the landlord (or their rep) to decide whether or not to accept your application.
