Can I use my debit card as a credit card?

  • I lost my PIN number to my new debit card...the bank is mailing me a new one, but it wont get here for like a week. I have money in my account, so when checking out, can I use my debit card as a credit, even if I don't have a PIN? Will it just take out the money automatically? I'm kind of dumb about this stuff....I always usually just use debit and it takes the money out automatically. I don't have a credit card. Thank you!

    yes it will act exactly the same. the amount of expense will immediately be a pending transaction in your checking account and will reduce available balance. you always have choice of using it as credit card and signing at cashier.

first you do not tell us if your debit card has a visa or mastercard logo it does it? if yes then you can use as a credit card if NO then you CANNOT use as a credit card and I'm surprise you have to wait for a new pin code why didn't you go INTO your bank (any branch) get the pin code instantly? that's what most banks do they can change your pin code in about 5 seconds you just make up a new pin code

Yes, just hit or say credit to the cashier, and it will just take a few more days to post to your account.

Your not using it as a credit card. It's still a debt card and used as a debt card. That's all a debt card can be used for. You can do it as a credit or a debt. Only difference is a debt you put in a pin and a credit you sign for it. That is the only difference at all.

it's only as good up to the balance in your bank acct and if you forget about a check that hasn't cleared yet and you spend too much the check puts you into negative balance - you will owe OVERDRAFT fees - $30-40 for EACH transaction that puts you in or further into a negative balance
