Fair Isaac (www.myfico.com) has a calculator that allows you to figure out how to increase your credit rating by tweaking several factors: - paying off part of or all outstanding debt - decreasing the ratio of balances to credit limits - decreasing the number of inquiries into your credit histories (more inquiries decreases the score They will analyze each of the positive and negative factors and provide recommendations on how to improve your score. Also take a look at these articles for some tips. Actually GUS is right -- only 1% of the population has a credit score of 800 or above. "And do you all think they work at this bank?" GUS asked. Funny!!!

Your employer does not require you to have a score of 800 or higher. You are mistaken. Only a very small percentage of the population has a score this high. Do you think all of them work at this bank? No way. I'm calling bull sh*t on this post.

IM WITH GUS, its impossible! I am sorry to tell you it is illegal for an employer to discriminate because you don’t have a 800 fico score. They can only use it to determine if you have financial problems that may rule you out as a candidate. Example banks would need to insure all employees in case of theft; well someone with lots of problems paying bills may find working around all that money to much temptation. A police officer, contractors, can not have any back child support showing on their credit, I can understand that might hinder their job performance to a degree. Loan employees are around lots of confidential information, you don’t want them stealing it and profiting from it. Those are just a few examples. I don’t understand are you saying in 12 months this job will be available so you will take out a loan? For the pay range offered in most banks to hourly and salaried entry level positions, they should only do a background check and fingerprinting.

I'm with Gus and everyone else that has agreed with him. You're average score between all 3 is a 733, which is a great score, being that 720 gets you prime rates. As for that employer that requires an 800 to work for them, I would hate to see what they require to get a loan or a credit card! But if you still want help boosting your score the best thing that would help is if you have a close friend or family member with excellent credit, ask them to add you to one of their oldest credit cards in excellent standing, ideally with a high limit, low balance and perfect payment history. The older the account, the better because it will add payment history and length of time establishing credit. Another thing would be to establish some kind of installment credit. Financing furniture, jewelry, appliances, car loans and mortgages are all examples of installment credit. The mixture of different types of credit will help your score as well. Step 7 on the link I posted will explain this further I hope that this works out for you
