Is there any way to get out of a dish network contract?

Can I retract permission for credit checks by Dish Network?

  • I signed up with Dish Network about 3 weeks ago on a 18 month contract. I got a letter from them this week indicating that they have denied my request for programming upgrade because of adverse information in my credit report from TranUnion. It turned out that there was no adverse information in my credit report. Dish Network rep I talked to said that they haven't denied anything and the letter may have been generated by a "computer glitch". I want to prevent such glitches in the future (I paid $10 this time to get immediate online access to my credit report). There is a clause in the dish network contract which permits them to run credit checks as they please. Is there some way I can retract that permission?

  • Answer:

You can retract it by cancelling your service. Other than that, you are stuck with their contract. It costs them money to run the credit checks so they don't just run your credit daily for fun----only when you are making a change to the service. If you are denied something due to your credit, you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report.
