What is net credit sales?
-
All I have is a basic income statement and balance sheet. It doesn't tell me the percentage of credit sales versus cash sales. I am figuring out the average collection period and the first step is Net credit sales/365days. the second is Accounts receivable/credit sales per day. The only lines on the income statement I have are "net sales" and in the balance sheet just "accounts receivable." Where do I find the "net credit sales" for the first step in this equation? Do I subtract the amount of cash from the balance sheet from the net sales in the income statement and assume that that is the amount of sales on credit? Please help!!!

Answer:
Gross sales are a overall total before any charges, charge backs, write offs etc etc etc (in the business world). After deducting all the applicable expenses, you are left with your NET sales. Hope this helps.
