Where can i go to cash a personal check other than a bank?

  • I have a 30 dollar check from babysitting and my bank is not open this late. I have heard that places like kroger or walmart could possibly do it, but I am not sure. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Often they won't cash a third party check which is a personal check made out to you. Many people have ATM cards to deposit checks and the banks usually allow a certain amount of withdrawal until it clears. Your best bet is asking someone you know to cash it. You would write in small but readable print at the top back where the signature goes "Pay To and their name, and then sign it underneath with room left for them to sign it when they deposit the check. If you don't know anyone to cash the check for you, then you have to wait to bring it either to your bank, or a branch of the bank that the check is written from (the bank name on the check). With an ID, their bank has to cash it.

The only advice that I can give you with 100% certainty is that Walmart does not cash personal checks. Sorry. :(

go to a check cashing store or deposit it into your ATM and withdraw the money afterwards
