Can an assistant branch manager at a bank be a busy, serious, stressful job?

Can you be hired as an Assistant Bank Manager and have bad credit?

  • My boyfriend just got a job offer from Fifth Third Bank to be an Assistant Branch Manager. However, his credit is pretty bad. He can't even get an apartment. So, my question is, will they withdraw the offer after they check his credit. Or have they already done so prior to making the offer? Just don't want to get my hopes up for a better job for him and he won't even be able to take it.

  • Answer:

What he should have done when he went in for the interview (since I am sure part of the process from the beginning was to check credit and his background since he would be working with money etc) is bring it up himself. Either take his credit report in and explain his financial situation and how he intends to rectify his credit problems when he starts working. Some employers will actually give the employee a probationary period if their credit is bad to make steps towards fixing it after they are hired. Staying hired could also be dependent on the employee continuing to pay off debt and correct their credit. Not all employers will give that chance though. Instead of them finding out, he should talk to the HR dept or whomever his boss will be and be up front.
