Will stores accept half payment via credit card and half via cash?

If I wanted to make a $1000 purchase, when I check out could I pay $500 in cash and put the other $500 on a credit card? Do only certain merchants do this, or do all? Store in question is a Golf Galaxy store, just looking to buy a new set of clubs.

You can pay: $300 with your credit card, $200 with a check, $300 in cash, $100 with a gift card and the other $100 on your other credit card and the cashier should take it. It's your money and you spend it however you want to spend it. If I want to sell you something I'm willing to take any combined-legal-form of payment in USA.

All Stores will gladly accept part cash and part credit for new purchases! It really reduces their overhead and they'll have ready funds for operational purposes.
