Can you buy lottery tickets with a Visa gift card?

I was wondering if you can buy scratch off lottery tickets with a visa gift card. I have a $25 gift card and there is no way to get the money off of the card and I was planning on using the money to buy scratch off tickets for my grandma for her birthday, she loves the dang things.

If the place you buy Lottery Tickets accepts Visa, then I'd say you can buy them. I'm not a lottery player but I thought I read somewhere that lottery's weren't allowed to accept credit cards though. I believe the reason for that was they didn't want people charging up hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of tickets on a credit card in the hopes of winning big, then having a huge credit card bill to pay off. As for your card, you can get the money off of it buying shampoo at Walgreens, a hamburger and McDonalds, and pretty much anything else at any store that accepts Visa.
